If your sketchbook feels inconsistent…
If you’ve lost momentum…
If you’re unsure what to draw,
or how to move your work forward…

This is not about making perfect drawings.
It’s about:
Learning how to see deeply
Building confidence with line, ink, and watercolor
Exploring materials in a way that feels intentional—not overwhelming
Beginning to understand how your ideas can develop into stronger work

Over two focused days, you’ll move through a series
of guided sessions that build from
observation → technique → expression → exploration.
Each session is designed to help you:
Work directly from observation
Develop stronger visual awareness
Use materials with confidence
Let go of perfection and begin to trust your process

This relaxing weekend art retreat is ideal for:
Adult artists returning to their practice
Adults looking for some peaceful creative fun
High school students building skills and confidence
Artists who feel stuck or inconsistent
Anyone who wants a more intentional sketchbook practice
All levels are welcome.
We begin by slowing down and learning how to truly see.
Through guided exercises using hands and carefully arranged still life objects, you’ll explore contour, blind contour, and modified contour drawing techniques.
This session builds:
Observation skills
Focus and awareness
Confidence in your mark-making
You’ll leave with sketchbook pages that reflect process, not pressure.

Ink introduces a different kind of thinking—one based on commitment and clarity.
In this session, you’ll explore:
Creating value through crosshatching and stippling
Line variation and density
Building texture and depth through repetition
Working from observation, you’ll develop a stronger understanding of how line can describe form, space, and structure.

You’ll begin with loose watercolor washes to establish mood and movement, then layer ink on top to define, contrast, and energize your work.
We’ll focus on:
Letting watercolor do what it does naturally
Preserving light and working with transparency
Using ink expressively—not rigidly
This is where your work begins to feel more personal, gestural, and alive.

You’ll begin with a gelli printing demonstration, creating your own unique printed papers.
From there, you’ll explore how to:
Tear, layer, and combine materials
Build texture and depth
Use collage within your sketchbook as a creative tool
This session encourages experimentation and helps you break out of predictable approaches.

Eileen is one of the nicest people I have ever had the chance to work with. She has helped me gain a lot of confidence in my art skills and abilities.
She constantly motivated me to push myself and to work on projects I never thought I could complete.
Her feedback is always insightful too, which helps a lot. Besides her being a great teacher, she is super funny and very patient with her students.
Eileen is a fantastic artist, therefore there’s no one better to get help from! I definitely recommend her teaching to anyone of any skill level.
